Natsu was setting some stuff up at the table. Thankfully most of the students were busy with other things due to classes starting soon and Halloween coming up. So no one would be able to make him mess up by mistake. The pink haired boy overheard of a spell to bring toys to life and thought it would be perfect for the events going on. This way little kids who may be to scared to go into haunted houses could play with the toys.
"Now let's see here." Natsu mumbled.
He had gotten a book from the library to try to help him out. As well as a stuff animal, a small rabbit, from the toy store at the mall.

Merida having finally gotten somewhat settled in her dorm, among other things just felt hungry. Luckily there weren't that many students in the cafeteria so she just without having to deal with the overly friendly bunch. Enough quiet for her to think about what to improve in the training area and how if she were to try combat. Merida thought how strange this school year start so late compared to what she's used to with the second or third week of August. Not that she was complaining! Later date, no parents, no restrictions. As Merida was eating the Halloween theme meal that school has made, the "Bloody Hand Sandwich" as it was called, she saw a boy a table across from her with a rabbit and a book. While these types of things weren't really that weird, she couldn't help but be curious. Moving to a table that was closer to the boy, what little glimpse of the book's covers sent her to a worry. She'd seen a book something like that from her family's local witch back in Scotland! She curse herself for not bringing a sword! They're already provided in the training room "Hey ye!" she cries out hoping to get the boy attention before he does something with that book. ((Alright, thanks. Natsu yelped by the sudden voice. He quickly looked up and noticed the orange haired girl. He could tell right away she was a newer student and new to the town since he never saw her before. "Oh hi." Natsu said with a small smile, trying to recover from the yelp.

Quickly moving her stuff over to the boy's table Merida glanced towards the book before looking back at the boy.
"Whit th' heel dae ye hink yoo're daein'?" She questions him bluntly, not even bothering to introduce herself.
Her eyes still staring back at the book every few seconds as if it would leave. If there's one thing her mother made clear to her is to not use spell books alone unless you actually know what you're doing.

Natsu blinked a bit by her reaction. However, he just shook it off.
"You mean with the toy? I'm trying to figure out a spell to bring it to live temporally. I thought with Halloween coming up kids who may get too scared by some events could be cheered up if one came over to play with them." Natsu explained, "So that way they won't miss out on all the fun going on."
He noticed the way the girl was staring at the book. He raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, are you alright?" Natsu asked in concern.

"Yeah, yeah, aam fine," Merida says quickly not taking her eyes off the book now. Her expression softens somewhat when he mentioned that he was doing this for the kids... but still this isn't something that should be done alone.
She looks back at the toy, the book, and the boy.
"Hoo far, did ye gie in th' speel??" Merida asks somewhat interrogating the boy hoping that he didn't get too far and if he did... well, they don't know. She wanted to say that they weren't supposed to do spells alone, but she didn't want to sound like her mum. Well he's not alone at this point so let's see what happens.
Merida rubs her temples at her thoughts, muttering how she may be overreacting and should just go back to eating her lunch.

"I haven't perform it yet. I want to make sure I have everything I need and the right spell first." Natsu explained, "I found the book at the library. It's weird through: It was the first time I ever saw this book there. Much be a new one Headmistress Yuko got over the summer."
The boy visited the school library a lot growing up. He was able to do so thanks to his mother growing as a teacher. Course, since the book was in the library, it should be safe, right? He looked through the book.
"So far I have the stuff toy needed and a few other things. But it's tricky to use if you're not focus." Natsu explained.

Merida felt somewhat suspicious at how sudden the book's appearance is, but hey she just got here, she hadn't even been in the library yet. She wouldn't know if it's a regular thing or not.
Her fingers stop twiddling, feeling a little more relax knowing that the boy seemed to know what he was doing.
"Okay guid," Merida responds complacently, "Min' if Ah stick aroond?"
Truthfully Merida would rather leave but she's already gotten herself involve, might as well stay to watch.

"Sure, if you want too. I don't see a problem with it." Natsu said with a grin.
While he didn't say it out loud, Natsu wasn't always the brightest when it came to many different things outside of fire magic and fighting. So having someone watch over to make sure he didn't make a mistake helped him feel a bit more relax. Plus, to him, Merida seemed nice. He thought she was just curious on what he was trying to do rather than the cover of the book. Course, he realized he didn't know the girl's name.
"Oh and I'm Natsu by the way. What's yours?" Natsu asked, trying to be polite.

"...It's Merida," Merida states reluctantly. It's not a problem but she kind of only wanted to be involved enough so that whatever happens doesn't kill him, not enough for her to say "friends".
Though might as well make one for her mom's sake. Merida intensely watches Natsu working at work on the spell, as she absent-mindedly swirls her fork in circles on her plate. She couldn't really see what the spell calls for due to not wanting to sit too close to Natsu, so she only saw the front and back of the book as it stands.
Tempted to see she moves a seat closer to the rabbit, not too close, but not too far from Natsu and the book.

"Nice to meet you than Merida." Natsu said cheerfully. The boy always saw most of the folks at the school as either friends or family member. Part of it was due to how he was raised and pretty much grew up at the school. And hopefully he and Merida could be friends.
He looked back at the spell book. The items were simple: Some water, certain potions that could be found in the potion class and a few magic word. Sure, he normally used fire magic but he was never one to back down from a challenge. In his mind, the worst thing that could happen was the spell not working at all. And it was for what he saw as a good cause.

"You too," Merida says feeling a little more comfortable about Natsu. Her eyes on the rabbit and studied the supplies he had, definitely looks like the type of spell only people with magic can really produce. Of there are other spells for those with no magic but she had no reason to use any at this point.
"So what's your magic? Possession? Light? Arcanian? Elemental?" she ask feeling that her mom might want to know what users she's hanging with. Not to mention that she might as well prepare for whatever might happened if he's going to magically animate a toy.

Natsu smiled as he looked at Merida.
"I'm able to use Fire magic." Natsu explained. "What about you? Is there any types of magic you could use?" He remembered how some students at the school didn't have magic similar to his friend Ventus. He wondered if the girl was a magic or a non magic user. And, since she was bringing the subject up, thought it would be fine to ask.

"Dornt hae onie. Completely human," Merida answers in a bragging tone. While Merida thinks having magic must be cool, she kind of feels more pride in her accomplishments as a No-Maj (at least that's what she heard non-magical Americans call themselves).
Merida was starting to get impatient with Natsu, wondering if she should just leave or whether this flipping spell will just not work. "How laung until 'at bludy speel is ready?"

"I see. That's pretty cool." Natsu said.
He yelped when Merida brought up the spell.
"Oh right, sorry. I got side track a bit." Natsu said sheepishly. "Shouldn't be long. I just need to finish this one thing and say the words. Than we should be good to go."
He looked back to the book. He set it down onto the table and started to work on the spell. Trying to move carefully yet quickly.

Merida felt uneasy staring at the rabbit once again, just something doesn't feel right with her. No, she already got herself involved why the sudden hesitation now?
Looking back at Natsu as he speeds along the process of the spell, Merida glance back at the book. Eyes widening as she notice a certain incantation that's made for the spell along with a warning on the corner. Moving herself over closer to the book, nearly right next to Natsu she skims to the incantation.
"Oh no..." Merida mutters quietly to herself, gritting her teeth afterwards for showing any sort of fear. "Not gonna work, not gonna work," she mentally chanted. The pit of her stomach dropped when she heard Natsu speak the words, having actually said the words. How the bloody hell did her not notice that warning!
(OOC: I apologize if I seem like I'm rushing.)

((You're perfectly fine. I don't think of it as rushing.)) Natsu had started to chant the words from the book, causing the rabbit to glow. The glow soon stopped once he finished the words...

Anna enters the lunch room bored and wanted to see if she should meet anyone else in the school before heading to her dorm. She saw the glowing light and was shocked. "Woah! What was that?" Anna coming closer to the two others in the room.

Unknown to them, the plush's right arm twitched a tiny bit.

"Yeah hi," Merida said indifferently looking away from the doll to address Anna. Turning back around to face the doll. It looked still.
"Oh thank god," Merida said, relieved as far as she knew of the doll's supposed inanimateness as turns to Anna and Natsu. "Uh, sorry.."
She rubs the back of her head, embarrassed for just blowing off Anna like that. Sticking out her hand Merida hopes that Anna would take as forgiveness or something.

Anna takes Merida and shakes it giving Merida a kind smile. Anna is pretty forgiving. And she can understand if the guy did a spell on that doll she would be wondering if it did anything too. "It's ok, and it's nice to meet you Merida."

Natsu smiled. He hoped the two and him could become friends. Both seemed pretty nice. Course, part of him wondered if Anna had any powers and if she was the same Anna his mother mentioned before. He recalled how the new art teacher had a sister who was a student here.
The rabbit toy was very slowly inching towards the edge of the table. Very carefully so none of the three there would notice the movement.

Anna notices the toy looked like it slightly moved. She was pretty nervous and didn't know what to do and she tried to think that it was just her imagination. "Either I had too much chocolate or... I think the bunny moved..." Anna pointing out how the toy was near the edge of the table.

Natsu quickly looked towards the toy. Indeed it had move. Even if it was a little bit and slowly.
"The spell...it worked!" Natsu exclaimed.
Course, rather or not that fact was a good thing was unsure to the pink haired boy. He hoped it did work the way he planned so the kids had a friend to play with during the Halloween events.

"It did?! AWESOME!" Anna excited for the person she just meet. She goes over to the toy Rabbit and watches waiting for it to move again. "These is so cool... should we tell a teacher or someone?" Anna watches the bunny like it was her job. But she only asked that see how Elsa reacted to her sparing without a teacher around she didn't want her sister or some other random teacher to give them a lecture.

"Couldn't hurt." Natsu said with a small shrug, "I mean the spell is meant to be temporally. But I know some teachers are more stern on the rules than others and would ask questions if they saw it."
So far the rabbit seemed harmless. It was moving very slowly so if it turned anything went wrong, the pink haired boy figured the three could easily take it out.
"Course, what do you think Merida?" Nastu asked.

Merida just glared at the rabbit, not trusting it one bit. She wanted to yell at Natsu for reading that blasted incantation but yet she didn't want to seem like a coward. Not to mention it hadn't done anything wrong yet...
"Jus'... Let's jus' keep it secrit until Halloween is o'er. If the teacher sees it durin' then maybe they won't get as mad," Merida rationalizes to them before turning back to the rabbit.

"...Alright. That doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. Plus, I can always keep it in my dorm room. That way if they find out about it before Halloween, I can always say it was just my doing and you two didn't have any part in it." Natsu said. He didn't think it would be right for them to get detention or anything like that when it was mainly his own doing.
