Personality: Korra is what can be seen as the typical tough, brutish and fiery girl despite the magic style she has been brought up by. She sees much of her self-worth in her magic having grown up in a family of powerful water manipulators, healers, and spiritualists.
Korra's stubbornness is what gets her into the most trouble as she goes into things without thinking. When she fails at something she usually takes it to heart whether it's by lashing out at people, keeping it to herself or just denial. Her failures also affect her confidence as she prides herself on being capable, independent, and helpful to others.
Despite her temperament and aggressive behavior she has a fierce loyalty to her friends and family and the compassion needed to help others. Korra also displays a sense of humor and enthusiasm, especially when she first moves to Republic City seeing more of the world after being isolated for the first 16 years of her life.
History: Korra was born in the South Pole to a family of magic users ranging from elemental magic (most water) to spiritualists and healers but much of her life was isolated in trying to keep her focused on her training. Despite having been quite successful in mastering her water magic Korra felt like she wasn't doing enough by hiding inside walls.
At sixteen years old Korra "moves" to Republic City to experience the city life and protect anyone she can. While a flood was going on in the city she and other magic users who could help were trying to slow down, hold, or stop the water from drowning citizens. One of them being Asami Sato as she was trapped in her car when flood started. When Korra saw that there was still someone out on the street and not inside a building higher up, she tries to keep the water at bay as long as she could for Asami pick the safety lock. Grabbing each other by the wrist they rush into the nearest building with the other civilians. Since that day, Asami had become Korra's best friend and vice versa admiring each other strengths, confiding in one another, and helping each other whenever they can.
After living for a year in Republic City, Korra feels she still needs to hone her abilities as while her water magic is definitely powerful it's still unfocused and even kind of wild. She and Asami move to Lunavilla and become admitted to Arcane Magi Academy. Korra is rooming with Anna.
