Name: Mason 'Dipper' Pines
Age: 12-13
Power: Telekinesis
Personality: Prefered to be called by his nickname Dipper. Dipper is a very intelligent, rational, self-conscious and compassionate young boy. Dipper cannot wait to grow up. Born as an adventurer at heart, Dipper cannot sit still, as he is always looking forward to the next riddle to solve. His scrupulous attention to detail comes in handy when he is off figuring out certain situations, but sometimes his over-zealousness leaves others questioning his credibility. Dipper at times is shown to be very ‘genre savvy’, like for example, in most movies nobody has a camera when they see the monster, or the camera malfunctions. He is very wise for his age, and refuses to sit down when there are new exciting things to learn. He also has a habit of clicking his pens whenever he is in deep thought, and also seems to get irritated when people find him cute or adorable as he wants people to take him seriously. Unlike most children, Dipper is very mature and wise for his age and tends to act as the leader in some situations, as he is shown to be very brave and smart. He is also very protective towards his twin sister Mabel whenever she’s in trouble and is willing to do whatever it takes to help her. He is somewhat selfish, and not above using certain things for his advantage. At times, Dipper can be ruthless in pursuit of his goals, but he ultimately does the right thing in the end and has the right motivations. Dipper can also be very paranoid and has some trust issues making him skeptic around people and/or situations. Despite all of this, Dipper does care for his sister, family and friends, will try to help out whenever he can. In his spare time, he loves to do research on magic and non-magic as well as reading mystery books and spending time with his twin sister.
History: Mason and Mabel Pines were born on August 31st, 1999 in Piedmont, California to a magical and non-magical user where they had a relatively happy life for the first few years. They moved to Lunaville by the time Dipper and Mabel were three. Mason was born with a strange birthmark on his forehead in the shape of the Big Dipper. Because of this, he was treated differently for his abnormality among the kids in school save for Mabel who stuck by him. By the time he and Mabel were five years old beginning elementary school. Both Dipper and Mabel were not very popular among the students as most of the students in their class had been mainly magic users and half looked down at them for having only one magical parent. This continued throughout the rest of elementary school and Dipper was the one being picked on the most due to his strange scar and being nothing like the rest of his family. One day when the two were eight years old Dipper and Mabel were exploring their backyard playing while their parents watched nearby. It wasn’t until the two had dared each other to climb the nearest tree to see if they can reach for the top, so they had run to the tallest tree in their backyard. It didn’t last very long as Dipper reached for the fourth branch, he had heard a small crack from below him and soon saw his sister about to fall on a broken branch. When he tried to get her it was too late as the branch had already broken before he could reach her. As he watched his sister fall in horror he felt a surge of magic within him and the next thing he had known he was levitating his sister in the air, much to his parents and Mabel’s own surprise as their parents almost thought that neither Dipper or Mabel would never get powers. Dipper was however, happy for once. As this way he could finally try to be someone.
After that incident, Dipper had tried everything to control his newfound abilities with the help from his parents and sister for the next two years. But it didn’t last for much longer as one fatal night, as he and his sister were watching television with their parents, a loud knock was heard on their door. Then the next thing they knew, they were being ordered to pack up the things they could do by their father while their mother had gone to talk to whoever’s outside. As soon as they were done Dipper and Mabel with their parents in tow, had started to run to to find the nearest taxi. When they did, Dipper and Mabel had got on, but their parents didn’t. And the next thing they knew Dipper and Mabel were being driven away far away from their home while their parents had gone to hide somewhere for the time-being. The car had driven near the forest at the edge of the city and were told to walk on their own with their luggage and don’t look back. They wandered what it seemed for like hours, until they reached a cave in the middle of the forest. They set up camp and a fire, feeling hopelessly confused and worried sick about their parents. It wasn’t until long both Dipper and Mabel learned they were soon not alone and found themselves facing some small creatures known as gnomes. At first, to them the gnomes seemed friendly at first but they soon realized their true purpose: they needed someone as their queen and they wanted Mabel to marry their leader. Though, Mabel refused this did not leave the gnomes satisfied. With their stuff, the twins had run out of the cave and had run right back into the forest with the gnomes chasing after them. They kept running and running until a golf cart came and rushing until something had grabbed them and found themselves on a golf cart with an old man driving it driving them out safely farther away so the gnomes couldn’t find them. They found themselves at an old shack called where they soon learned that the old man was really their great uncle and that he had planned to come and meet them after their parents had informed them of the situation. It was that day Dipper learned to not trust anyone except for his great uncle Stan and twin sister and kept that promise for the next few years while they hid from whatever was after them. As the two twins, now twelve years old, remained there Dipper tried had to figure out how to control his telekinesis, however he realized he couldn’t continue doing it here in this old shack. Mabel suddenly remembered seeing some flyers and a commercial for a school located in Lunaville that was open to all magic and non-magic users. After some convincing from Stan, Dipper and Mabel were both on their way back to Lunaville, as soon as they applied to Arcane. They waited a few weeks until they finally got an answer from them and soon both Dipper and Mabel were on their way with new goals in mind, Dipper to learn more about his powers and with his sister their beside him. He was ready to try almost anything.
