Name: Edward Elric
Nickname: Ed (by most) Fullmetal, Brother (sometimes by Al)
Age: 15-16
Power: Alchemy
Personality: On the surface, Edward displays an immature sorts of personality. He is decidedly stubborn and strong-willed. Frequently letting his pettiness and vindictiveness get the better of him. He is somewhat selfish, self-absorbed. Generally, acting more out of self-interest than any sort of philanthropy as well as taking opportunities to stroke his own ego and flaunt the fact that he’s the adopted son of a teacher in Arcane, and feels little incentive to follow the rules, earning the distinctive of him being a loose cannon of sorts. Edward is also quick-tempered resorting to steel fist violence, than calm negotiations. He can also be a bit sexist towards females. Ed, also has a reputation for being foul mouth and an incurably sarcastic cynic, only too happy to bluntly and harshly relieve others of their own delusions of god, reality, or self-importance. Edward also has also displayed a propensity towards impatience and has an inability to sit still for long. He also has a ‘napoleon’ complex and frequently lashes out at people verbally and physically for calling him short. He also doesn’t believe in god and tends to lean towards agnostic than atheist. In private, he frequently acknowledges the existence of God but refuses to pray as he blames him to be the one responsible for all the problems in his life. He shows a great dislike for his biological father Van Hohenheim, along with a great distaste for milk, and has a fear of needles.
However for those who know Edward that have made an impact on him, Edward shows a much more deeper personality, showing marked selflessness, unflinching loyalty, and compassionate. For someone who suffered greatly at a young age, Edward doesn’t ignore the true suffering from others becoming sympathetic in the process, though his advice is often tempered with brisque and criticism it’s only because he wants them to be put on the direct path forward. He will intervene on the behalf of the oppressed, but not the means, to help themselves, if he concludes that the situation calls for it. His recklessness and disdain for authority often has him bending the rules to dole out a ‘Robin Hood’-esque sense of justice in accordance with his strong belief of the Equivalent Exchange concept.
In his spare time, Ed spends his time researching on some topics, has a great interest in Alchemy, has a love to travel. He loves to frequently annoy his adopted father Roy whenever possible, and has a deep love for his brother Al and will do anything to keep him safe.
History: Edward was born on February 3rd, 2001 to Trisha and Van Hohenheim Elric as the oldest between him and his only brother Alphonse (shorten to Al). For most of his childhood Edward had had a relatively happy childhood for the first few years. A year after he was born, Ed’s younger brother Al was born. As the years went by; Ed along with his brother Al have both developed a remarkable talent for Alchemy at a young age. However things changed upon the sudden departure of his father Van Hohenheim. Due to this, his only family left that he considered family were his brother Alphonse, and his mother Trisha. However, a year or two later, Edward’s mother contracted an illness, which she died shortly after that leaving only Ed and Al. Due to this, Ed vowed to look in everything for an answer to bring back their mother from the dead.
After that, Ed and Al spent the next few years living on their own on the streets until they were discovered and sent to live in Lunaville’s orphanage for girls and boys, where they would spend the next few years researching everything they could find to bring back their mother. Until they decided one day sneak away to visit their old home, when they found out that none of the books had what they were looking for. They did this for the past several months without nobody knowing what they were up too. And along the way they had met a young girl named Winry Rockbell who grew to be one of their closest friend, and had met a woman who knew alchemy, named Izumi Curtis and began teaching them what she knew. It wasn’t until one day, a few months later, Ed and Al managed to get everything together that they needed in order to bring back their mother. When they did..the results didn’t go as planned and Ed lost his arm and leg, while Al lost his entire body gaining a suit of armor in the process. That was the day when they met Roy Mustang, a teacher from Arcane, who originally came to look for students, but they soon eventually learned that Roy had come looking for them specifically for reasons they didn’t know. When he found out the boys attempted human transmutation. He grew furious and yelled at the two for doing something that was forbidden to do and as Roy got angry with them Ed feared that he was going to be in serious trouble and that something that could’ve separate him from his brother or lose his chance at attending Arcane. Because he knew this meant that he was going to be reported to the High Magic Council for doing a forbidden thing. However, much to their surprise Roy decided to adopt the two boys. Ed had asked him why, especially after everything they’ve done. Roy said it was because he saw them in himself and he could tell by the determined look and fire in Ed’s eyes and promised him that he would help them find a way to restore their bodies while attending Arcane. Ed after talking about it with Al alone, accepted. And the two soon found themselves on a mission to get back their bodies and their first step was to attend Arcane School of Magic where they would be able to train their new abilities and get better at them so they can be ready for when the day they got their bodies back.
